SPRINGFIELD – Cynthia Louise Voyles age 52, a lifelong resident of Springfield, IL, died at Brookhaven Medical Care Facility In Muskegon, MI, at 8:20 a.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2009, after a long illness.
She was born on November 21, 1956, in Litchfield, IL. Cynthia’s father and one brother, George Edward Voyles, preceded her in death.
Cynthia is survived by her mother and stepfather, Graceia and Wayne Golomb of North Muskegon, MI; one aunt, Louise Seaver of Springfield, IL; one niece, Sarah Farley of Muskegon; 3 first cousins, Elizabeth Garrett, Kathryn Hobbs, Karen Ritterbusch, 3 second and 3 third cousins, all of Springfield, IL.
She was a graduate of Springfield High School, attended Lincoln Land Community College for 1 year and Quincy College for 3 years. Cynthia began working for the Illinois State Police (ISP) on January 3, 1978, as a computer operator. She was promoted to data processing supervisor in 1982. After over 21 years she retired as a public service administrator.
Cynthia was an avid breeder of Doberman show dogs. Her champion Doberman, Samantha was with her for 13 years. She was a volunteer at St. John’s Breadline and visited several area nursing homes regularly for years. She also had numerous hobbies which included knitting exquisite Italian designer sweaters, colorful afghans, and other needle work projects.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 7, 2009, from 5-7 p.m. at Staab Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Staab Funeral Home with Monsignor John 0ssola officiating. Burial will follow at Girard Cemetery.
