Cynthia L. Ferguson, 59, of Springfield, died at 7:05 pm, Monday, December 16, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born March 14, 1954 in Springfield, to Fred and Helen (Burke) Gietl. She married Gerald W. Ferguson Jr. on April 20, 1974 and he preceded her in death on December 10, 2012.
Survivors include: one daughter, Angie Ferguson of Bloomington; one son, Doug (wife, Jennifer) Ferguson of Chatham; three grandchildren, Andrew Jerald “AJ”, Maxwell and Mitchell Ferguson; two brothers, Matt Gietl (companion: Kim Pate’) of Springfield and Dan (wife, Jodi) Gietl of Zionsville, IN and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her parents, husband and two brothers, Dave and Tim Gietl preceded her in death.
Cynthia was a member of Little Flower Church. She liked to bowl and read. She enjoyed spending time with her family, which was very important to her.
She retired in July from the Sangamon County Supervisor of Assessments Office after working there for more than fifteen years.
Visitation: 5-7 pm, Thursday, December 19, 2013, at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5 pm.
Funeral Mass: 10 am, Friday, December 20, 2013 at Church of the Little Flower, with Monsignor John Ossola officiating. Burial will follow at Old Salem Cemtery.
