SPRINGFIELD – Cliff R. Garst, 75, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born June 21, 1939 in Girard, IL to Alvy and Stella (Lutz) Garst. He married Linda Louise Oller on May 5, 1962, and she survives. He is also survived by two sons, Mark (Lisa) Garst of Springfield and Michael (Kelly) Garst of Perrysburg, OH; five grandchildren, Benjamin, Ellie, Andy, Matthew and Thomas Garst; two sisters, Linda Jean Garbin of Girard and Evelyn Winterbauer of Tampa, FL; one brother, Donald Garst of Litchfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Betty Lomelino, Vera Killam, Connie Taylor and Dorothy Laswell; two brothers, Robert and Henry Garst.

Cliff was a resident of Springfield most of his life. He was an Inspector for the Illinois State Fire Marshall and a retired Division Chief of the Springfield Fire Department. He was a US Air Force veteran, a member of The American Legion Post #32, Springfield Motorboat Club, and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.

Visitation: 4-7 pm, Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home. An additional visitation will be held from 9:30-10 am, Friday, March 6, 2015 at Christ the King Church.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Friday, March 6, 2015 at Christ the King Church with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail and US Air Force will conduct military honors.
