SPRINGFIELD, IL – Clara Lily White, 91, died Monday, March 30, 2015 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born July 11, 1923 in Quincy, IL to Herman and Anna Babette (Bangert) Dege. She married Ray E. White on November 12, 1949 and he preceded her in death on December 9, 1998. Also preceding her in death were four sisters, Bertha Danhaus, Anna Louise Brigham, Frieda Marshall and Patsy Rose Hoshiko.

Surviving are two daughters, Andrea (Tommy) Deeds of Cooper, TX and E. Jeanine White of Springfield; three sons, Paul A. White (Brenda Edwards – Life Partner) of Petersburg, Wesley H. White of Springfield and Mark C. (Betty) White of Rochester; three grandchildren, Courtney White, Greg White and Chad Kerker; one great grandchild, Cristina Kerker and a sister-in-law, Cornelia M. White of Springfield.

Clara Lily and husband Ray owned and operated White’s Photo Service in Quincy 1947-1970. Also Clara Lily and Ray owned and operated Antiques Unique antique shop in downtown Springfield 1993-2002. Clara Lily was a long time member of the L.O.E.S.S. Rock and Mineral Club, and the Lincoln Land Depression Era Glass Club, both in Springfield. Clara Lily was a life-long Unitarian and was president of the Springfield Abraham Lincoln Unitarian Universalist Church 1972-1976.

The family will host a “Celebration of Life” service at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Abraham Lincoln Unitarian Universalist Congregation with Reverend Martin Woulfe officiating. A reception will follow.

Graveside Service: 1:00 pm Friday, April 17, 2015 at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
