Clara Elosie Hobbs

Clara Eloise Hobbs, 95, of Springfield, died at 10:55 pm, Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the home of her niece in Edinburg.  She was born November 1, 1919 in Springfield, to John and Amelia Hograve Allsopp.  She married Fred Hobbs on December 24, 1942 and he preceded her in death on October 19, 1993.

She is survived by her niece, Martie (Jeff) Copelin of Edinburg; her daughter-in-law, Jammie Hobbs of Springfield; niece, Judy (Ron) Bandy of Clinton, Loyd Thomas  Allsopp of Irvine, CA, nephew, Mark (Julie) Allsopp of Morris and niece, Pam Allsopp of Normal and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son John H. Hobbs and one brother John Allsopp.

Clara was a member of West Side Christian Church King’s Daughters and Alpha Delta Kappa (Teachers’ Honorary organization).  She loved her card clubs.  She was a primary grade school teacher for forty-four years teaching at Rochester and Enos Schools among several others.

Visitation: 10-11 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.

Funeral Service:  11 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home with Vaughn Beeman officiating.  A private burial will be at a later date at Edinburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers (due to an allergy to flowers) the family requests memorial contributions may be made to Inner City Mission
