Charles W. "Chuck" Douglas

Charles W. “Chuck” Douglas, 94, of Springfield, died at 3:25 am, Friday, July 24, 2015 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born September 16, 1920, in Rantoul to Gordie and Hilda Nylen Douglas. He married Doris Mascher on September 14, 1947 and she preceded him in death on January 8, 1976. He married Carolyn Frenz-Collins on August 29, 1982 and she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Suzanne Baer of Gilbert, AZ; two sons, Stephen A. (Linda) Douglas of Rantoul and Kent C. (Vickie) Douglas of Springfield; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; one sister, Virginia and two brothers, Robert and George.

Charles enjoyed woodworking, bird watching and formerly enjoyed fishing. He was a US Army veteran serving during WWII. He was a postal clerk for thirty eight years in Rantoul.

Visitation: 10-11 am, Monday, July 27, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2750 E. Sangamon Ave., Springfield, IL 62702.

Funeral Service: 11 am, Monday, July 27, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Darrell Debowey officiating.

Burial will be held at a later date at Maplewood Cemetery in Rantoul.
