SPRINGFIELD – Charles W. Boggs Jr., 63, of Springfield died at 9:52 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 18, 1946, in Springfield, the son of Charles W. and Flora Brown Boggs Sr.
He married Christine Louise Seitz in 1980; she preceded him in death on Feb. 9, 1997.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by a daughter, Tina Maguire of Springfield; a stepdaughter, Debra (Leim) Truong of Chicago; two sons, Charles W. Boggs III of Springfield and Mark Anthony Boggs of Pleasant Plains; a stepson, Joseph Michael (Janine) Cloyd of Springfield; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Marie, Barb, Peggy, Cindy, and Vickie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Charles was a resident of Springfield for most of his life. He previously lived in Texas for 18 years. He was employed as a union bricklayer and laborer. He was of the Catholic faith and he enjoyed fishing and Budweiser.
A memorial gathering will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home. The family will host a time of fellowship at the DAV at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010. A private graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
