SPRINGFIELD – Charles Ft. Hood Wilson Jr., 80, of Springfield died at 12:15 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2009, at St. John’s Hospice.
Charles was born January 6, 1929, in Crawfordsville, Ark., to Charles and Frankie Bean Wilson Sr.
He worked for many years as a baker at the St. Nicholas Hotel.
He is survived by five daughters, Ramona (Maurice) Wilson Sanders, Kasandra Edordu, Brenda Foday and Loretta (Kenneth) McFarland, all of Springfield, and Linda Wilson-Jones of Washington, D.C.; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Fredela Wilson, Ulear Lane and Florence Marshall-Wilson, all of Springfield, and Cora Lee Miller of West Memphis, Ark.; an aunt; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bennie Wilson; and three sisters, Viola Lewis, Rosie Lee Strickland and Izola Sims.
Visitation will be held for 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with a funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
