Charles W. "Chuck" Kelly

Charles “Chuck” W. Kelly, 68, of Springfield, IL died at 4:32 pm, Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born January 24, 1949 in Decatur, IL to Leo Marvin and Marietta D’Ambrosio Kelly. He married Kathy Dawn Jones on September 26, 1971 and she survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Chad (Stephanie) Kelly of St. Charles, IL and Todd (Amy) Kelly of Petersburg, IL; five grandchildren, Cole and Noah Kelly, Brandt, Kaycee and Chloe Turasky; two sisters, Sharon (Robert) Ackerman of Salem, OR and Patricia (Roy) Johnson of Largo, FL; one sister-in-law, Marti Kelly of Richton Park, IL and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leo M. Kelly.

Chuck was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He was a member of First Church of God and life time member of the American Legion and VFW. He was very involved with street rods, enjoyed target shooting, fishing and traveling.

He retired from the State of Illinois, Department of Veteran Affairs and previously had worked at World Color Press in Effingham, IL and owned and operated Effingham Fire Extinguisher Sales and Service.
The family will host a memorial gathering from 1 -3 pm, Saturday, November 18, 2017 at First Church of God in Springfield, IL with a memorial service to follow at 3 pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, Ronald McDonald House, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
