Cecelia Antonette Romano, 90, of Edgewood, WA, formerly of Springfield, IL, died at 5 a.m. on Friday, September 24, 2010 at The Woodmark at Steele Lake Assisted Living in Federal Way, WA. She was born in Udine, Italy on May 19, 1920 to Attilio and Rose Cartelli Vallar. She is preceded in death by her parents; one infant sister; one sister, Mary Rorie and two brothers, Peter and John Vallar. She married her loving husband of 68 years, Frank S. Romano on June 20, 1942.
Cecelia is survived by her husband, Frank Romano; two daughters, Rose Ann (Husband: John) McRoberts of Edgewood, WA and Renee’ Romano (Husband: Robert Sherwood) of Champaign, IL; one son, John Romano of Springfield(Girlfriend: Lori Schisler); four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Dominic (Wife: Jean) Rosa of New City, IL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was a member of St. Cabrini Church and was active with the Altar and Rosary Society. Cecelia was a homemaker and enjoyed all types of crafts, and was especially talented at sewing and crocheting. She traveled with her husband to Europe and all throughout the United States. She lived in Springfield with Frank from 1940 until moving to Edgewood Washington in 2008.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 30, 2010 at St. Cabrini Church with Rev. Richard Chiola officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Cabrini Church or the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
