Casimir I. Bauza, age 84, of Springfield, died at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield at 6:12 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2011. He was born on June 30, 1926 in Nashville, IL to Frank and Magdalena Malawy Bauza. He was married to Hettie Ann Amsten for 37 years and was then married to Minnie Knight for 5 years. They both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Kenneth Bauza and Casimir Wayne Bauza and several brothers and sisters.
He was of the Catholic Faith and attended Sacred Heart Church in Poplar Bluff, MO where he served as an usher. He was an U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII and the Korean war, a life time member of VFW Post 6477 in Missouri and Knights of Columbus Council #1706 in Poplar Bluff, MO.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Mary Frances (Robert) Drayer of Springfield, OR and Bernadine Davis of Kingsport, TN; 1 son, Anthony M. (Jocelyn) Bauza of Springfield; 8 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; 1 sister, Annie Bednarkewicz of Carlyle, IL and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation: 4 – 6 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Sacred Heart Church
Funeral Mass: 6 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Sacred Heart Church with Monsignor Thomas Holinga officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2011 at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors.
