Carolyn “Nan” Daley, 90, of Springfield died at 10:45 pm, Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born February 4, 1926 in Springfield to Joseph and Barbara Tomancsek Sabo. She married John R. Daley, Sr. October 16, 1948 and he preceded her in death on December 12, 1994.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters, Catherine Mitch, Ann Schroeder and Betty Tarr and three brothers, Paul, Joseph and George Sabo.
Surviving are a daughter, Carla (Tom) Carmean of Springfield; one son, John R. (Mary Ann) Daley, Jr. of Springfield; four grandchildren, Jamie R. (Mindy) Daley, Jason Carmean, Jon (Companion, Angela Shutt) Daley and Jennifer Daley all of Springfield; five great grandchildren, Kaydence, Elizabeth, Frankie, Nolan and Jack; twin brother, Carl Sabo of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carolyn was a member of St. Joseph’s Church. She loved to cook. Her life was all about her family and making sure everyone was taken care of. She owned Daley’s Market from 1948-1976 and retired from Raggedy Ann & Andy Daycare in 2013.
Visitation: 4 – 7 pm, Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home- Springfield with a prayer service at 4 pm.
Funeral Mass: 10 am, Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at St. Joseph Church with Reverend Steven Janoski officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church.
