Carole M. Yocom, 68 of Springfield, died Saturday, January 8, 2011 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born February 8, 1942 in Springfield, the daughter of Edna B. Baichly Yocom. She was a lifelong resident of Springfield, living mostly in the north end. Carole graduated high school from Ursuline Academy. During her earlier years of life the Catholic Religion and education from the sisters of Ursuline Academy provided a strong religious guidance that would last throughout Carole’s wonderful life. She worked many years at Franklin Life Insurance Company as a mail carrier. She retired from food services at the St. Francis Motherhouse. Up until her life ended, Carole was a huge sports fan of baseball, football and auto racing. The beloved Cardinals baseball team will follow her to her grave.
Carole was preceded in death by her mother Edna, Aunt Hazel, and her dogs Bodie and Rocky. She is survived by her dog Duke and cousins Sandra Wiese and Bob and Tom Cunningham. Carole is now rejoicing in the heaven above with her beloved mother and her Aunt Hazel.
A visitation will be held at Staab Funeral Home from 12-2pm on Tuesday January 11, 2011. A funeral will be held at Staab Funeral Home at 2pm Tuesday January 11, 2011.
