Carol Jean Tuecke Beck, 58, of Collinsville, died at 3:40 p.m., Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born August 9, 1955 in Springfield, to Edwin J. and Jean Eileen Elliott Tuecke.
Her parents preceded her in death.
She is survived by one sister, Joyce Eileen (Jerry) Burkhart of Springfield; one aunt, Susan Nichols of Springfield; several cousins including, Ronald (Melissa “Missy”) Hill of Asheville, NC, Reginald (Eleanor) Jokisch of The Plains, OH, Carolyn Wilson of Arcola, IL, Franklin (Marianne) Jokisch of Normal, IL and her three beloved cats, Marbles, Molly, and Maxine (all rescues).
Carol was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield and was a former member of the Springfield Junior League. For a number of years, she served as a volunteer at Memorial Medical Center’s Festival of Trees. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, trying out new restaurants, home decorating, and loved animals (especially cats).
Carol was raised in Beardstown, but she lived in Springfield for many years before moving to Collinsville in 2002.
Carol graduated from Beardstown High School in 1973. She graduated from Robert Morris College, Moser Secretarial School in 1974. She received her Associate Degree from Lincoln Land Community College and attended Sangamon State University.
Carol began her career at Marine Bank in Springfield in 1974. In 1977, she was hired by Ameren, where she worked for 36 years, 18 years as a part of CIPS in Springfield and 18 years as a part of Ameren in St. Louis, working most recently as a Business Performance Specialist. Carol was especially noted for her attention to detail and outstanding work for major generation projects at Ameren Missouri.
Carol was a beloved, dear, sweet person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m., Friday, January 3, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home, with additional visitation 10-11 am, Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m., Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Paul Hemenway officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Beardstown.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Ladies Aid or to the Animal Protective League in Springfield.
