SPRINGFIELD – Carol Elizabeth Black, 67, of Springfield died at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 14, 1941, in Sedalia, Mo., the daughter of Ralph Leon and Catherine Lawson Reed. She married Orbra J. Black in September 1962; he preceded her in death in 1976. Also preceding her in death were her father; infant daughter, Linda Diane Black; and a brother, Ralph Reed.
Mrs. Black, a resident of Springfield since 1978,
was a manager for Mr. Ted’s restaurant and also volunteered and worked for St. John’s Breadline. She was a member of Last Days Disciples of Christ Church.
Surviving are her mother, Catherine Couts; a daughter, Becki (Tom) Doolin of Ashland; two sons, Robert E. (Wendy) Black and Joseph L. Black of Springfield; seven grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Gunderson of Modesto; two brothers, David (Tammy) Couts and Wallace (Doris) Reed, both of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with Pastor Rick Mulkins officiating.
