SPRINGFIELD – Blanche Louise Dominick, 82, of Springfield died at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at St. John’s Hospice.
She was born Dec. 11, 1926, in Grand Rapids, Mich., the daughter of Lawrence and Margaret Schurrman Frederick. She married Harvey J. Dominick on July 10, 1948; he preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 2003.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Harvey Frederick.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Cartier of Savannah, Ga. and Julee (Terry) Moss of Springfield; a son, Greg (Sandra) Dominick of San Antonio; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Margie (Richard) Riemersma of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Nancy Lehnertz of Houston; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Blanche was a resident of Springfield since 1959. She was a homemaker.
Blanche was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception since 1960 and currently attended Church of the Little Flower. She was a proud member of the Dominican Laity and volunteered at the PTA and Meals on Wheels. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with prayers at 4:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Church of the Little Flower, with
Monsignor John Ossola officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Stroke Foundation or Church of the Little Flower.
