Betty P. Colvin, 78, of Springfield, died at 4:05 am, Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Auburn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born November 29, 1938 in Springfield, to James Arthur and Clemma Lawson Rutherford. She married James L. Colvin, Sr. on December 27, 1957 and he preceded her in death on July 31, 2002.

Survivors include nine daughters, Betty (Delbert) Fulton and Esther (Randy) DeGroot, both of Springfield, Annlisa (Mark) Mefford of Prattville, AL, Catherine (Larry) Turner of Philadelphia, IL, Eva (Rick) Morgan, Rose (Carroll) Stark, Loraine DeGroot and Gloria (Mike) Legg, all of Springfield and Dorothy Lindsey of Belleville; one son, James Colvin, Jr. of Springfield; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Frank and Charles; two brothers; one sister; one granddaughter, Amanda DeGroot and one great granddaughter, Jameson Brinkley.

Betty worked for several years as a nurse’s aide at Rutledge Manor Care Home and for thirty two years as a traffic parking enforcement officer.

She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and American Legion Auxiliary Post 32.

A visitation will be held at 10:30 am until time of services at 11:30 am, Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
