SPRINGFIELD – Betty Lou Campbell-Scoffinger-Poinstingl, 81, of Springfield died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010, at St. John’s Hospital.
She was born Oct. 27, 1928, in Springfield, the daughter of Carl W. and Beatrice Geraldine Campbell Scoffinger. She married Elmer Glen Poinstingl on Dec. 19, 1947; he preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 2002.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and grandmother, Rebecca Campbell Clark.
She is survived by three daughters, Sherry L. Mattison of Highland, Calif., Patricia L. Pafundi of Mentone, Calif. and Connie E. Poinstingl of Springfield; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph W. Scoffinger of Temple City, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
Betty Lou was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She worked for International Shoe Factory, Blalocks Dime Store, Sangamo Electric and worked for 20 years at Mother Goose Daycare as a teacher.
Betty Lou was confirmed at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. She bowled for years with Mother Goose Team and was a member of a local Bunco club. She loved God, her family, horse racing, playing the piano, music, friends, playing cards and having fun.
A memorial gathering will be held from 11:30 a.m. until the time of memorial services at 1 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2010. at Staab Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Davis officiating.
Inurnment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park Niche.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
