SPRINGFIELD – Betsy A. Tanner-Livezey, 69, of Springfield died at 4:55 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 29, 1939, in Dawson, the daughter of Clifford and Christena Burch Bumgarner. She married Roger Tanner in 1956; he preceded her in death on June 3, 1997. She then married Bill Livezey; he preceded her in death as well.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marge Dunham; and a daughter, Debra Guernsey.
She is survived by a daughter, Dianna (husband, Joe) Overbeck of Keller, Texas; a son, Roger Tanner Jr. (companion, Connie Withers) of Dawson; five grandchildren, Kelly (husband, Jason) Smith, Khris (wife, Traci) Killen, Justin (wife, Rachel) Tanner, Matthew Tanner and Brian Guernsey; seven great-grandchildren, Branden, Tanner, Kadence, Bryce, Kyla, Kiersten and Madison; a sister, Sandra (husband, James) Carroll of Springfield; a brother, Jerry (wife, Beverly) Bumgarner of Concord; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Betsy was a resident of Dawson for most of her life. She also lived in Texas for a couple of years during the 80s. She worked for Franklin Life as a custodian, Memorial Medical Center as a nurse’s aide and Bunn-o-Matic in the filter room.
She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary and a past member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed playing bingo and bunco and spending time with her family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with Minister Bill Shanle officiating.
Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Diabetes Foundation or American Cancer Society.
