Bertha F. Saiz, 97, of Springfield, formerly of Pleasant Plains, passed away at 4:55 am, Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Mill Creek Alzheimer’s Special Care Center. She was born on January 29, 1925 in Chicago, the daughter of John and Julia (Mrvec) Bartosovic. She married Stanley O. Saiz on June 29, 1952 and he preceded her in death on December 21, 2006.
Also preceding her in death are her parents; five sisters, Josephine Florence, Madge Pariso, Mary Nowack, Julie Voight, and Helen Miller, and four brothers, Joe Jankovic, John Jankovic, Julius Bartosovic, and Steve Bartosovic.
Bertha is survived by two daughters, Mary (Troy) Tolan of Knoxville, TN and Julie Saiz of Springfield; two sons, Dave (Bev) Saiz of Elgin and Mark (Leslie) Saiz of Batavia; ten grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was a member Blessed Sacrament Church and a Homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady’s Rosary Makers and donated thousands of rosaries to prisons and missions worldwide.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 am, Monday, February 28, 2022 at Blessed Sacrament Church with Reverend Jeff Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Bertha’s wishes were to have masses said for her or memorial contributions made to the EWTN Global Catholic Network Television.
