Barbara A. Remack Peper, 73, of Riverton, died at 12:30 pm, Thursday, June 30, 2011. She was born December 3, 1937 in Springfield, Illinois to William and Faye “Ann” Annabelle Locker Remack, Sr. She married Donald E. Peper on May 15, 1965 and he preceded her in death on May 20, 2006. Also preceding her in death were her parents; infant daughter, Jenny and a daughter-in-law, Kelly Moore.
Survivors include four children, Robin (Orietta) Moore, Penny (Jim) Gansbauer, Kevin Moore and Pamela (Jim) Sausaman all of Springfield; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren; two brothers, William Remack, Jr. and Robert Remack both of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Barbara was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Riverton and was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. She enjoyed playing BINGO, spending time with her dog Charlie, her family, and most importantly Jesus. She formerly volunteered at the Riverton Food Pantry and was a caregiver to many.
She was employed at Ameritech for 30 years working as an operator, engineering clerk and other various positions.
Visitation: 5-7 pm, Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home.
Lie-in-state: 9-9:30 am, Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Riverton.
Funeral Service: 9:30 am, Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Riverton, with Reverend Michael Koschmann officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Riverton.
The family wishes to thank Jan, Deb & Tom from Memorial Home Hospice and the entire hospice team, for the compassionate, loving care they gave Barb and her family. Also, thank you to Pastor Koschmann for his many visits of comfort, nourishing mom with the Word and Sacrament.
