SHERMAN – Ava M. Grubb, 99, of Sherman died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 2, 1908, in Bunker Hill, the daughter of Lemuel Bird and Phoebe Halliday Manning. She married Herbert E. Grubb on March 22, 1930; he preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 1977. She also was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Clarence and Jim Manning.
Mrs. Grubb had been a resident since 1938 of Springfield, where she lived at 923 W. Calhoun Ave. for 65 years.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman and Mother’s Club at Goodwill. She enjoyed her family and loved having all her family at her home, especially on Christmas Eve. She was raised in Bunker Hill and graduated from Shipman High School in 1926.
Surviving are a daughter, Patty Grubb of Springfield; three sons, Richard (wife, Barbara) Grubb of Springfield, Herbert E. (wife, Mary Margaret Midge) Grubb of Osgood, Ind., and Donald R. Duck (wife, Dorothy) Grubb of Sherman; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Lola Theodor of Chatham; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, at Staab Funeral Home. Services will be held there at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, with Pastor James Stunkel officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
