SPRINGFIELD – Annie Rosella White Brown, 95, a resident of Springfield since 1931, went to be with Sherman at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009.
She was born Feb. 16, 1914, between Waverly and Modesto, the daughter of Marshall and Florence Stewart White. She married Sherman L. Brown Dec. 24, 1947, in Springfield; he preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, eight brothers, three sisters, two grandsons and a great-granddaughter.
Mrs. Brown worked at Pillsbury Mills and Sangamo Electric Co. inspecting meters. She also was involved in child care for many years. She was a member of Third Presbyterian Church and Sangamo Electric Retirees.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna (Morris) Haynes of Girard and Brenda (Thomas) Hammes of Alexander; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a great-great-great-grandchild; a brother, Harold (Irene) White of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until noon Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
