Anne Miller Anderson
SPRINGFIELD ” Anne Miller Anderson, 80, of Springfield, passed away at 5:10 a.m. on Sunday, August 5, 2007 at St. John’s Hospice.
She was born on December 13, 1926 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter and third child of Charles August Miller and Onita Adele Stevens Miller. Her parents and an older brother, Charles August Miller, preceded her in death. Her husband of 43 years, William M. Anderson, and a son, Robert William Anderson, also preceded her in death. Surviving family members include her brother, George Girard Miller of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was the loving mother of four children: Kathe Kubish of Tucson, Arizona, Sally Minardi of St. Ann, Missouri, W. Mark Anderson (wife, Cynthia) of Rochester, Illinois, and Dr. Chris Anderson of Union, Missouri. She was the grandmother of eight (Jeffrey Anderson, Allison Anderson, Jan Phillips, Philip Kubish, Scott Minardi, Vincent Minardi, Lacey Minardi Craig, and Kyla Minardi), and the great-grandmother of seven.
She was raised in Kansas City, Missouri and attended St. Theresa’s Academy in Kansas City, Missouri and St. Mary’s College in Leavenworth, Kansas. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from the University of Arizona in Tucson in 1948. At the University of Arizona, she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. In 1949, she and her family moved to Litchfield, Illinois and lived there for over 40 years. She moved to Springfield in 1993.
For many years she helped run a family lumber and hardware business, first in Raymond, Illinois and then in Hillsboro, Illinois. Following her retirement from the lumber business, she became active in volunteer work. Her volunteer activities included Adopt-a-Pet, Meals on Wheels, Memorial Medical Center, and Lincoln Library. She was a member of Koke Mill Christian Church.
Memorials should be made to Adopt-a-Pet Animal Shelter in Benld, Illinois or to St. John’s Hospice.
Funeral arrangements are as follows: Visitation: 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 7th at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 8th, at Staab Funeral Home. Luncheon following the service at Koke Mill Christian Church.
