Anna Elizabeth Bender
SPRINGFIELD – Anna Elizabeth Bender, 90, of Springfield, died Thursday, May 24, 2007 at St. John’s Hospital.
She was born December 28, 1916 in Harrisburg, IL, the daughter of Bruce and Effie Dooley Foster. She married Pierre Bender in October, 1943; he preceded her in death on January 26, 1966. Her parents, one sister, and two brothers also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Bender worked as a nurse on 2nd floor at Dirksen House/Capital Healthcare, retiring after 25 years of service. She attended Cardiac Rehab Lab at St. John’s Hospital and participated in many activities including Knights of Columbus and military organizations. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
Survivors: loving companion, Harold Pacha of Springfield; two daughters, Joan Joeanna Brown of Springfield and Betty (husband, Paul) Hagedorn of Jacksonville, OR; five grandchildren, Doug (wife, Kim) Brown, Dana (husband, Ronald) Homann, Dan Hagedorn, Kris (husband, Jim) Hess, and Joy (husband, Torr) Winetrout; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Loudene Walker of Girard and Wanda (husband, Harry) Fryer of Harrisburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Prairie Heart Institute Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.
Visitation will be held 8:00-9:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2007. Services: 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2007, Reverend Paul Hagedorn officiating. Burial: Camp Butler National Cemetery. Staab Funeral Home of Service.
