Ann Marie Mabie

October 22, 1926 - February 16, 2015

SPRINGFIELD, IL – Ann M. Mabie, 88, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side at 1:53 pm, Monday, February 16, 2015. She was born October 22, 1926 in Springfield to Thomas and Margaret Mitchell Brady. She married John (Jack) R. Mabie on September 26, 1953 at St. Cabrini Church and he preceded her in death on September 29, 1993.
Also preceding her in death were her beloved son, Johnny Mabie on July 17, 1976, grandson Tony Mabie, her parents, a sister Mary (Pete) Benton and a brother, Thomas Brady.
She is survived by her beloved sons, William “Bill” (Barbara) and Tom Mabie; grandsons, Bill, Jr. (fiancé Lindsey Blough), T.J. (Angela), Christopher (Jenny) and Austin Mabie; great grandsons, Isaac and Carter Mabie; sister, Helen Woods of Springfield; brother, James (Sue) Brady of Dixon; step-daughter Barb Carnduff and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
Ann grew up in Springfield, graduated from Feitshan’s High School and worked at Woolworth, Bressmers, Secretary of State and retired from J.C. Penny’s. She and her husband also owned the Midway Tavern.
She was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a lifetime member of the DAV. Ann enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Pritchetville, IL; traveling to the casino; St. Louis Cardinal games and great times with “the girls” Helen Woods, Gloria Hartson, Marilyn Tate, Angie Tait and Sharon Conner.
Most of all she will be remembered for how she loved her family, sons, daughter-in-law and the special love she had for her grandsons and great grandsons.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Timberlake Assisted Living and Harbor Lights Hospice Care for all their loving care.
Visitation: 9-11 am, Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Sacred Heart Church, 730 South 12th Street, Springfield, IL.
Funeral Mass: 11 am Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Sacred Heart Church with Revered Zachary Edgar officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
