SPRINGFIELD – Ann Margaret Carver, age 92, died at 3:40 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at the Villa East Healthcare in Sherman, IL.
Born on June 17, 1917, in Springfield, IL, she was the daughter of Antonia and Benny Yanor. She married George F. Carver in 1940 and he preceded her in death on July 21, 2002.
Ann was a homemaker all her life, having worked a year at the International Shoe Factory and Allis Chalmers. She was a Republican election judge for 50 years.
For the past 7 years, Ann has resided at Brenden Gardens and both Villa West and Villa East Healthcare facilities.
Ann was a member of Church of the Little Flower, and most recently, of St. John Vianney Church in Sherman, IL.
Ann was an excellent seamstress, making most of her daughter’s clothes, and matching outfits for her grandchildren. She was an impeccable housekeeper. She loved to play cards, both pinochle and poker. She loved to dance, polka and waltzes and to take Sunday drives.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, sister and two brothers.
She is survived by one daughter; GeorgeAnn Madison of Springfield, two grandchildren, Michele Herron and Michael Madison, Jr.; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2009, at St. John Vianney Church in Sherman. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, with Rev. Vincent Callahan O.F.M., officiating. Private burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorials may be given for masses.
