SPRINGFIELD – Ann Clara Banich, age 98, of Springfield, IL died at Mary Lou’s Country Abode in Buffalo at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2009. She was born on September 28, 1911, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Martin and Cecilia Kmet Banich. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Frank and Martin Banich, and one sister, Cecilia Yartz. She was a lifelong resident of Springfield and retired from Sangamo Electric after 45 years of service.
Ann is survived by 2 nieces, Lorraine (husband: Jim) Youngman of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Mary (husband: Joe) Swift of Creve Coeur, Missouri, 7 great-nieces and nephews and 11 great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Women’s Club, SNPJ, Community Concert Organization, HEA group, Travel Club and was a former resident of the King’s Daughters Home.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2009, at St. Joseph Church, 1345 N. 6th Street, Springfield, IL, Monsignor Thomas Holinga officiating. Burial will be in Calvary.
Memorials may be made to the SNPJ Scholarship Fund and the King’s Daughter Organization Friendship Circle.
