Amy Jane Rose, 97, of Springfield, died at 3:03 pm, Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born December 28, 1919 in Springfield, to Earl and Edith Bean Gasaway. She married George Elmer Rose, Jr. on February 14, 1938 and he preceded her in death on February 5, 2001.
Survivors include one daughter Sue Ames of Springfield; one son, Ronald Lee (June) Rose of Petersburg; two grandchildren Colette (Trent) Knoles and Heather (Russ) Witmer; four great grandchildren, Jessica Knoles, Emily (Austin) Smith and Lucas and Jenna Rose Witmer; one brother, Glenn (Nancy) Gasaway of CA; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Bishop of Nixa, MO and Pat Boehnke of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Edith Ellen Schmitgen and June Porter and one brother, Earl Gasaway.
Amy worked as a merchandiser for Sears for thirty years. She enjoyed traveling with Martha, playing pinochle, sports games, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 10-11 am, Monday, January 16, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home- Springfield.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Monday, January 16, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield, with Pastor Casey McCormick officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
