Alta Viola Haworth, 81, of Springfield, died at 4:32 pm, Thursday, October 30, 2014 at her home.
She was born September 1, 1933 in Fayette County, PA, to Howard and Blanche Warman Miller. She married Chester Horton, Franklin Hughes and Robert Haworth and they preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Pam Buchanan and Kay (Danny) Lash both of Springfield; one son, Ron Horton of Springfield; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands; four brothers and eight sisters.
Alta was raised in the Mormon faith. She enjoyed playing BINGO; working puzzles; spending time with her family and her dog, Bella.
She was a cook and managed the Cafeteria at Matheney Grade School for twenty years.
The family will be hosting a memorial service at 10:30 am, Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Latter Day Saints Chapel, 3601 Buckeye Drive, Springfield, Illinois with Fiore Belmonte officiating.
Private burial will be held at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
