Alta Irene Wolf, 80, 0f Springfield died at 10:50 pm Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born on December 16, 1933 in Effingham, IL to Bernard and Vesta Shadwell Higgenbotham. She married Robert John Wolf on May 11, 1957. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Stella Aten and Janet Light; two brothers, Bernie and Robert Higgenbotham; infant son, Anthony Wolf; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joan Donath, Gene Donath and Paul and Jackie Wolf.
She is survived by her husband, seven daughters, Theresa (Reg Dunham) Webber and Mary (Bill) Brown, both of Springfield, Barbara (Preston) Correll of Ashland, Angela Mae Hamrick of Springfield, Kathy Wolf of Vandalia, MO, Judy (Neil Hervey) Wolf and Christine Wolf, both of Springfield; three sons, Paul R. Wolf and John E. Wolf, both of Springfield and Timothy A. (Fred) Wolf-Nunez of San Diego, CA; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin (Ruby) Higgenbotham of Effingham and Glenn (Ella) Higgenbotham of Joliet and several nieces and nephews.
Alta was a member of Church of the Little Flower and 4th degree Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She was an election judge. She enjoyed word find puzzles, was an avid reader and a Cubs and Notre Dame Fan. She worked for six years at the Cambridge Inn and was also a homemaker.
Memorial Gathering: 9:30-11:30 am Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Church of the Little Flower.
Memorial Mass: 11:30 am Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Church of the Little Flower with Monsignor John Ossola officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
