Alice L. Tatro, 69, of Springfield, died at 9:50 am, Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. She was born February 10, 1942 in Springfield, to Earl F. and Helen M. Crabtree Stites. She married William “Bill” Tatro on July 2, 1986 and he survives. Also surviving are two children, Kirk Slowe of Springfield and Kelly Slowe (Companion: John Bradley) of Chatham; a granddaughter, Kelsi Slowe; two step children, Kitty (Ed) McHenry of Springfield and Dr. David Tatro of Bloomington; mother, Helen Stites of Springfield; two brothers Earl F. (Jean) Stites and John H. (Jackie) Stites, Sr., both of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her father preceded her in death.
Alice was a member of Cherry Hills Baptist Church; Telephone Pioneers and volunteered at the Salvation Army for 20 years. She worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company retiring after 30 years of service.
Visitation: 4 – 7 pm, Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery
