Alice Ann Milner, 86, of Springfield, died at 12:37 pm on Friday, April 19, 2013, at The Bickford House with family by her side. She was born on August 21, 1926, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Katheryn A (Howard) and Ralph H Chrysler. She married William R Milner Jr. on September 9, 1949, in Detroit, MI. He preceded her in death on January 30, 2009.
She is survived by three children: James W (Pam Gibbs), Robert H (Gail), and Patricia A (James) Dunn, all of Springfield; five grandchildren: Cortney (Ryan) Foster of Peoria, IL, James (Sarah) Milner of Dubuque, IA, Katherine Dunn of Springfield, Kristin (Andrew) Schnelten Lansdale of Riverview, New Bruswick, Canada, and Aaron Gibbs of Springfield; five great-grandchildren: Charles and Isaac Foster, Maddox Milner, Alasdair and Helen Schnelten Lansdale. She is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth McLaughlin of Livonia, MI and a brother William (Patsy) Chrysler of Tennessee and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph H Chrysler, Jr.
Alice was a graduate of Albion College, Albion, MI, where she met her beloved husband BIll of 59 years. She was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. Alice was employed as a social worker with Children’s Services of Detroit; she was later employed by Senior Citizens of Sangamon County and retired after 16 years.
Alice was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church, Springfield, where she joyously served in the choir, ECW, Prayer Group, Food Pantry and Sunday School. She and Bill were also active in Christ Anglican Church in Lion’s Head, Ontario, Canada. She was a member of the Spirit Singers of the Bruce Peninsula and traveled with the choir to England and Scotland. She was a member of Chapter EO of PEO, and her group from childhood, the “Forever Friends Club”. Alice and Bill shared their lifelong love of the family cabin in Ontario, Canada, with their family and many friends.
Visitation: 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2013, at Christ Episcopal Church, Springfield, with the Rev. Dr. Gregory Tournoux officiating.
Burial will be at Rochester Cemetery.
