SPRINGFIELD – Albert W. McKinney Jr., 87, of Springfield died at 4:32 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at St. John’s Hospice.
He was born Nov. 9, 1921, in Springfield, the son of Albert W. and Dora Milligan McKinney Sr. He married Emadale Cornthwaite on March 14, 1946; she preceded him in death on Sept. 19, 1992. Also preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers; and three sisters.
Mr. McKinney, a lifelong resident of Springfield, had been a truck mechanic for International Harvester.
He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran, serving during World War II. He enjoyed auctions, flea markets, going to the river boats and formerly enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Surviving are four sons, James S. (wife, Nancy) McKinney of Pawnee and Michael D. (wife, Jennifer) McKinney, John C. (wife, Shareena) McKinney and Steven W. (wife, Linda) McKinney, all of Springfield; 15 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Pastor Juli Lejman-Guy and Pastor Tom Christell officiating.
The family requests donations be made to the Grace Lutheran food baskets.
