Albert R. Link
SPRINGFIELD – Albert R. Link, 85, of Springfield, died at 2:20 am, Tuesday, December 07, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center. He was born September 1, 1925 in Springfield, Illinois to John and Flora Louise Coons Link. He married Mary Brown on July 4, 1948 and she survives him. Also surviving are, one daughter Jan (Matt) Filicsky of Danville; 3 sons, Bill (Elaine) Link of Carlinville, Dave (Tricia) Link of Springfield and Tom (Tina) Link of Taylorville; 10 grandchildren, Steven Link, John Link, Jim (Ashley) Desmond, Geoff Desmond, Dave (Hillary) Hoffman, Taylor Link, Tarryn Link, Taryssa Link, Ryan (Jacqui) Link and Tyler Link; 3 great grandchildren, Helena Link, Griffin Hoffman and Jaxon Link; one granddaughter-in-law, Stephanie Link; one sister Barb (Ken) Snow of Taylorville and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Louise LeVeque; one brother Wes Link; one daughter, Judy Hoffman and one grandson Tim Link.
Albert was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII in the European Theater. He worked for nearly 40 years at Fiat Allis, retiring from Parts Publications in 1983. He was a member of First Church of the Brethren where he served in many offices, also was a member of Fiat Allis Chalmers Retirees Association and Silver Steppers. He liked to play golf at Bunn Park, delivered Daily Bread Meals for 27 years, was an RSVP volunteer and an avid golfer and family man.
