Albert L. Dorworth, Sr., 87 of Springfield, died at 3:40 am, Tuesday, April 24, 2012. He was born December 20, 1924 in Springfield, to Elza Van and Anna Lucille Calvin Dorworth. He married Helen E. Fortner on August 15, 1948 and she preceded him in death on March 28, 2003.
His parents; one brother, Elza Calvin Dorworth and one son Michel Dorworth, Sr. also preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Suellen (John) McClure of Tampa, FL; five sons, James J. Ealey of Missouri, Robert T. (Sandra) Ealey of Sparta, WI, Paul E. “Eddie” (Carolyn) Ealey of Southern View, Albert L. (Francine) Dorworth, Jr. of Athens and Donald L. (Betty) Dorworth of Springfield, Several grandchildren, great grand children and great great grandchildren and several cousins.
Albert was a member of American Legion Post #32 and Eagles Aerie #437. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and was an avid Illini and Cardinal fan. He was a US Navy Veteran serving during WWII. He was a cab driver for over 50 years. Driving mainly for Lincoln Cab Company and retired in 1992.
Visitation: 9-10:30 am, Friday, April 27, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.
Graveside Service: 11 am, Friday, April 27, 2012 at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors.
