SPRINGFIELD – Albert A. Bud Kunz Jr., age 75, of Springfield, IL died at 12:14 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at St. John’s Hospice.
He was born on June 11, 1934, in Springfield, IL, the son of Albert A. and Catherine Gaffigan Kunz. He married Virginia R. Stapleton on April 23, 1960.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A lifelong resident of Springfield, Mr. Kunz worked at Office Supply for 40 years and for Midwest Office Supply for 10 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army from 1955-1957. He was a member of Church of the Little Flower, Knights of Columbus Council 364, Men’s Club at Little Flower and was a volunteer for Friend in Deed for 27 years.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Kunz of Springfield; two daughters, Susan C. (John) Hood of Montgomery, IL and Maureen A. (Ray) Carter of Edinburg, IL; two sons, Albert A. Trey (Ann) Kunz III of Indianapolis, IN and Christopher P. (Majesta) Kunz of Auburn, IL; six grandchildren, Kendra, Cole, Katy, Christopher, Kayleigh and Clare; a brother, Robert Kunz of Lompoc, CA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special neighbors, Paul and Ursula Bahlow.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 4 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2010, at Church of the Little Flower, with Monsignor John Ossola, officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Berlin, where Sangamon County Interveterans will conduct military honors.
Memorials may be given to St. John’s Hospice or Little Flower School.
