Alan H. Bea, 60, of Springfield died at 5:24 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at St. John’s Hospital.
He was born July 26, 1949, Springfield, the son of Arthur and Irene Keenan Bea. He married Helene L. Rosenthal on May 11, 1995.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William J. Bea.
He was survived by his wife, Helene L. Bea of Springfield; two daughters, Jeannie (Craig) Hansen and Erin Bea, both of Springfield; a son, Thomas (Layla) Bea of Ironton, Ohio; two grandchildren, Atticus and Emmitt Bea; a sister, Marian (Edward L. Jr.) Pruitt, of Springfield; a sister-in-law, Pat Bea of Springfield; a brother, Arthur J. (Mary Lou) Bea of Cincinnati; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and beloved dogs, Coco, Sophie, and Tucker.
Alan worked for St. John’s Hospital for over 39 years. His last position was as PACS Administrator. He was of the Christian Faith. He attended Sts. Peter and Paul Grade School, and graduated from Griffin High School in 1967. He also attended SIU-C and St. John’s School of X-Ray Technology. He enjoyed working with computers, playing his guitar and golfing. He loved his job.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home, with Dr. Robert Armstrong, Pastor of Living Water Church, officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach-Help for Haiti.
