Agnes R. Chrans, 93, of Springfield died at 1:55pm, Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born September 10, 1919 in St. Clair, MO, the daughter of Roy and Ruth Carroll Atteberry. She married Vern Chrans on May 11, 1940 and he preceded her in death on June 9, 1979. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Janice Ann Chrans; a son, Harry W. Chrans; a sister, Armenda Lindsay, and three brothers, Carl, Richard, and William Atteberry.
She is survived by her five sons; Dennis (Sharon) Chrans of Springfield, Stephen (Gayle) Chrans, of Chatham, James (Carol) Chrans of Springfield, Larry Chrans of Springfield, and Robert (Nancy) Chrans of Chatham; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Agnes was a member of St. Aloysius Church and the Altar and Rosary Society where she was president in 1990, Legion of Mary, and was a founding member of Mothers of Boys Club.
Agnes was a resident of Springfield since 1936, and was employed for thirty two years by the United States Department of Agriculture Statistics Service.
Visitation: 11:00-1:00 p.m., Monday, January 28, 2013 at St. Aloysius Church
Funeral Mass: 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 28, 2013 at St. Aloysius Church with Reverend Peter Harman officating.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
