SPRINGFIELD – Agnes M. Veseling, 87, a resident of Springfield since 1922, died at 1:19 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center.
She was born July 15, 1920, in Riverton, the daughter of John G. and Elizabeth Tapocik Durako. She married Edward C. Veseling Sr. on Aug. 10, 1940; he preceded her in death on April 19, 1980. Her parents; two sisters, Mary Steil and Anna Hardy; and a brother, John Durako, also preceded her in death.
She worked for the Illinois Department of Agriculture for 31 years, from 1954 until retiring in 1984. She was a member of St. Cabrini Church, Altar Society, First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, AFSME and AARP.
Surviving are four daughters, Edwina (husband, Richard) Dolack of Williamsville, Vicki Dike (deceased husband, Dana) of Independence, Mo., Darlene (husband, Dave) Scheiris of Raymore, Mo., and Tammy (husband, Bo) Farley of Springfield; four sons, Edward C. (wife, Barbara) Veseling Jr., Darrell L. (wife, Patricia) Veseling, Vincent D. (wife, Betty) Veseling and Tim P. Veseling, all of Springfield; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; sister, Edith (husband, Anthony J.) Caruso of Springfield; sister-in-law, Betty Durako of Belleville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at Staab Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, at St. Cabrini Church, with Monsignor John Ossola officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
