Clifford Foster Bee, Jr., 73, of Springfield, died at 6:00 pm, Monday, January 30, 2017 at his residence. He was born April 3, 1943 in Springfield, to Clifford and Vera Liggett Bee, Sr. He married Elizabeth Ann “Libby” Coleman on June 10, 1967 and she survives.
Also surviving are his three children, Jay (Janet) Bee of Athens, Angela Bee and Betsy (Dale) Jackson both of Springfield; six granddaughters, Amber Wessing, Andrea Wessing, Bree Donathan, Kelsey Bee, Brandi Owens and Keyaira Jackson; four grandsons, Bradley Wheeler, Clifford Bee, Tony Wessing and LaMarcus Pool; eight great grandchildren, Haylee Roach, Jayla Wessing, Benjamin Lloyd, II, Jazmyn Wartenbe, Braylyn Grover, John Ward, Briar Bee, Aurora Wheeler and Foster Wheeler due in February; two brothers, Floyd (Elena) Bee and Raymond Bee both of Springfield and several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins including two special nieces, Jane Coleman Powell and Teri Coleman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Marilyn Sue Bee and Phyllis Hull.
Foster was a US Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a certified welder and retired from the City of Springfield after 26 ½ years.
Foster was a member of ABC Bowler and fireman Oiler Local Union. He was a life member of VFW Post 755 and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Thursday, February 2, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. An additional visitation will be held from 10-11 am, Friday, February 3, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Friday, February 3, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Greg Busboom and Pastor Pam Mitcham officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
