Peggy A Hoskinson

December 14, 1947 - October 7, 2016

Peggy A. Hoskinson, born December 14, 1947 to Robert and Verna Hoskinson who preceded her. She passed, surrounded by the love of her family, October 7, 2016 in the care of St. John’s Hospice.
After graduating from Glenwood High School, Peggy joined the United States Air Force which she proudly served from 1966-1970. She was stationed in Okinawa, Japan when she received the news that her father passed. Honorably discharged, she came home to help support her mom and siblings.

Peggy worked hard her entire life. She began her career at the State of Illinois, Department of Revenue in 1973. With schooling and achievements, she became part of The Internal Affairs Division as an Investigator and sworn police officer. During her extensive career, she received training from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, United States Secret Service, Internal Revenue Service, Illinois State Police, Southern Police Institute, and various other agencies. She was also a range instructor that specialized in firearm safety and teaching employees self-defense.

Peggy served on the Executive Board of the National Internal Affairs Investigators Association for 2 years and served as Secretary Treasurer of the Illinois Police Association for one year. During her Revenue career, she also served in The Illinois Air National Guard and later in the Illinois Army National Guard as Military Police.
Though she never had children of her own, she lovingly raised her niece, Anna. Peggy and Anna had many wonderful adventures together. It is a bond that will last forever. She adored Katie and Harry (her great niece and nephew). She was a strong presence in their lives since the day each were born. She will always be loved and forever missed.

Peggy was a genuine friend who was loved and respected by many. Her life and legacy will never be forgotten.
She leaves behind her Brother James Hoskinson (wife Muffn) and 4-legged friend Halle, Sister Donna Bowen (Husband Joseph), Honorary Daughter Anna (Hoskinson) Stevens (Husband Garrett), her beloved Great Niece and Nephew, Katie and Harry, several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Brother John Hoskinson, Sister Kathy Nunes, and Sister in Law Diane Hoskinson.

A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, October 14, 2016 at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted and Rev. Braden Maher will officiate. Family and friends are invited to join the procession from Staab Funeral Home to Camp Butler at 9:00 a.m. Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League and/or the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.

The family would like to thank the loving care received by the nurses and staff at St. John’s Hospice.

Service Information

Family and friends are invited to join the procession from Staab Funeral Home to Camp Butler at 9:00 a.m. Friday.
