Our Family Serving Yours
Family-owned businesses, such as Staab Funeral Homes build their reputation by delivering on their promises. For the Staab family, this means surpassing expectations as we serve our neighbors in Springfield and Sherman.
Our family has owned and operated Staab Funeral Homes for more than 80 years. We realize our neighbors throughout the Springfield and Sherman area trust our expert staff to walk alongside them during some of life’s most difficult times. We listen and we care, and our decades of professional experience help us highlight your loved one’s unique personality at the funeral and help you heal afterwards.
We remain a family-operated funeral home in every sense of the word. George Staab began his career in funeral service working with John O’Donnell for 10 years. His philosophy was simple: a funeral is a way to celebrate the life that was lived, to reflect on your loved one’s unique accomplishments.
In 1937, George Staab and his wife Christine started Staab Funeral Home. By 1942, the Staab family purchased the building. And in 1950, the first major addition of the funeral home was built. After George passed away in 1960 and his wife in 1973, their children were responsible for running and flourishing the business.
With the generations that followed, the funeral home became computerized and more consumer oriented, and the embalming facility was immensely improved. In 2014, Staab purchased a property in Sherman, Illinois and converted it into a second location, which opened in 2017. Even after three generations, the Staab family mission continues: serving other as our own, while providing a meaningful service of life.
Throughout our rich history, families trust us to arrange every detail of their burial or cremation with excellence. They know we’re here to help with the 100+ decisions that come into play when planning a funeral.
