Roy F. Rhodes, 79, of Urbana, died at 4:20 pm, Thursday, January 10, 2019 at East View Terrace in Sullivan, IL. He was born October 16, 1939 in Springfield to Stanley Alton and Cassie Utinsky Rhodes, Sr. He married Gloria Beland on July 30, 2003.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria; three children, Dawn Carter of Urbana, Roy F. Rhodes, Jr. of Imperial, MO and Trenny Rhodes of St. Francis, MN; and their mother, Delena Rhodes of Bloomington; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren and one brother, Stanley A. (Thelma) Rhodes, Jr. of Pleasant Plains.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild.

He was a graduated from Springfield High School in 1957 and attended Bradley University and the University of Illinois. He served in the United States Navy Reserves.

After selling beauty wholesale supplies for several years and a single proprietorship in Mohomet, IL, he and his brother Incorporated Rhodes Beauticians Supply Inc. in 1977, member of BBSI (Beauty and Barber Supply Institute in 1978.)

A full service distributor of beauty supplies, territory included central Illinois and areas in Indiana and Missouri.

Annually held a two day event offering State Certified Continuing Education classes with credits.

Roy was a member of St. Patrick Church in Urbana. He loved to travel for business and pleasure, sail boating, and football.

Visitation: 10 – 11:30 am, Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Funeral Mass: 11:30 am, Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Reverend Michael Friedel officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception or Catholic Charities.
